It is seventeen years since America and Britain embarked on their 'Final Solution' for the population of Iraq. As I write, seventeen years ago, Iraq would be entering the second week of a barbaric, near twenty four hour a day, carpet bombing, which, then, as now (lest we forget - yet again) scrupulously ignored Protocol 1, Additional to the Geneva Convention of 1977: Within twenty four hours, most was destroyed. The electricity went off within two hours, leaving patients on life support machines and vital equipment, babies in incubators, or those on oxygen to die. Refrigerators defrosted, all medicine needing refrigeration, blood banks and vital saline solutions for the injured were destroyed. Food rotted and between the bombing and the bank closures (latter for fear of looting) replacements were scarce to unbuyable. In Najav, seventy dialysis patients, 'old friends', said the senior nurse in charge of the unit, died for want of electricity. The water supply was deliberately destroyed, parts denied subsequently by the pathetic, US-UK dominated Sanctions Committee - a Committee without a backbone between them - and remains lethal to this day. The telecommunications tower was also one of the earliest casualties, an elegant, soaring, structure on the edge of Baghdad's Mansur district. It lay, broken and crumpled, as did the remains of those who worked inside it. Iraq was thus cut off from the world, the extent of the bombing and atrocities largely unknown for considerable time. Iraqis throughout the world had no way of knowing if their families, friends, loves, were dead or alive. Radio and television stations across Iraq were blitzed so no warnings to populus could be given (journalists too have special protection in wars, but decision makers, seemingly are not only illiterate, but ignore legalities.) Hospitals, health clinics, schools and kindergartens were bombed, education eradicated so totally that the stores for educational materials, in buildings separate from the schools (usually in a central distribution point some miles away) were also bombed. Agriculture in all forms was deliberately targeted. Chicken farms bombed, flocks of sheep and goats, broadly half of all buffalo were killed, dairy farms obliterated. Crops, food processing factories reduced to rubble. A war crime stupendous in its immensity, for which not one murderous, genocidal, infanticidal, decision maker or pilot has stood trial. Pharmaceutical factories were bombed, the medical syringe factory was destroyed. And in an especially psychotic policy, the countries who were Iraq's trading partners and had built factories and installations for the country, bombed those which they had built. America's gung-ho goons whooped over bombing the Pepsi and Coca Cola factories. 'Bravery' doesn't come more deviant, sub-normal and retarded than that. The weapons used were depleted uranium, which continues to irradiate Iraq and the region, the people, flora and fauna -and will continue to do so for four and a half billion years. '..protection of the natural environment against widespread, long term and severe damage', is another absolute dictate under the Geneva Convention. It proscribes absolutely '... damage to the natural environment (prejucing) the health and survival of the population.' The 'inhuman acts', committed against the Iraqi people in 1991 constitute war crimes which, since no one was brought to justice, one can only hope haunt those responsible for all time. When the (UK) Observer, to its credit, printed the picture which became the symbol of the 1991 atrocities, the Iraqi soldier, with his near melted face welded to the windscreen of his vehicle, there was an outcry. The sensitivities of readers should not be exposed to such horrors. Maggie O'Kane, writing in the Guardian Weekly (16th December 1995) describes searingly, reality. Relatives, praying, hope against hope, that those they loved, had somehow miraculously survived the hadean inferno that was the Basra Road massacre. "On the day the war ended, at a bus station south of Baghdad, dusk was falling and the road was covered with weeping women. The Iraqi survivors of the `turkey shoot' on the Basra Road were crawling home with fresh running wounds. Their women were throwing themselves at the battered minibuses and trucks, pulling, pleading, begging. `Where is he, have you seen him ? Is he not with you ?' Some fell to their knees on the road when they heard the news. But five years later, in his military base in Georgia, he remembers well how it worked:
and those of your colleagues haunt for all time Joe Queen. May the specter of those for whose live burial you and your murderous colleagues were responsible, follow in all your footsteps, for all time. Additionally, the US and UK, bombed Iraq (illegally) until the (illegal) invasion of 2003. In 2002, they stepped up their destruction of life, limb and of entire housing projects with families within, children playing, doing homework, flocks of sheep and goats with their child shepherds. 'Approximately a year before the United States initiated Operation Southern Focus, as a change to its response strategy, by increasing the overall number of missions and selecting targets throughout the no-fly zones to disrupt the military command structure in Iraq. The weight of bombs dropped increased from none in March 2002 and 0.3 in April 2002 to between 8 and 14 tons per month in May-August, reaching a pre-war peak of 54.6 tons in September 2002.' (Wikipedia.) A recent study by the Centre for Public Integrity, has also uncovered lies of impeachable stature, leading to invasion, by the Bush Administration.. 'The study counted 935 false statements in the two-year period. It found that in speeches, briefings, interviews and other venues, Bush and administration officials stated unequivocally on at least 532 occasions that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction or was trying to produce or obtain them, or had links to al Qaeda, or both. 'Bush led with 259 false statements, 231 about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and 28 about Iraq’s links to al Qaeda, the study found. That was second only to Powell’s 244 false statements about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and 10 about Iraq and al Qaeda.' (http://www.publicintegrity.org ) Iraq's post invasion (2003-2007) excess under five mortality has been estimated at over one million. In Afghanistan, post invasion, at 1.9 million (2001-2007.) For another humanitarian abomination of our time, the Israeli siege of the Gaza strip (June 2007 and ongoing) total excess death figures are elusive. CIA figures for infant mortality, however (2004) are woeful at 23.54 per thousand births. Sweden (2007) just 2.76 per thousand births. Given Israel's withdrawal of electricity and just about all needed to sustain life since last June, some serious statistical data is needed - and relentless and absolute demands for humanity and human rights for our global neighbors in Gaza, Iraq and Afghanistan, the forgotten of Lebanon's 'Simmer Rain' decimation, by 'we the people ...' Like Joe Queen's genocidal actions, the atrocities committed in these countries are being carried out in our name. 'Silence is complicity'. (For much more shameful complicity - since 1950 - please see Dr Gideon Polya: 'Body Count', an academic, key and indispensable work: http://www.globalbodycount 'There was no one left to kill', declared General Norman Schwartzkopf after the Basra Road bloodbath, where even the injured holding white flags, and doctors accompanying them were obliterated. As I write, on Holocaust Memorial Day, it is impossible not to reflect that is does not take forced labor camps, forced transport and Zyclon B to create a holocaust. When the figures of the dead in Iraq, Afghanistan and Gaza, reach six million, as the world stands by, will they too get their own Holocaust Memorial Day? Will we all, regardless of color or creed, ever learn, before it is too late?

WHO IS FRONTENAC VENTURES CORP AND WHY THE MYSTERY?
Kahentinetha Horn
MNN Mohawk Nation News
MNN. Sept. 14, 2007. Frontenac Ventures Corporation is going to court in Kingston on September 20th to get a permanent injunction to remove the Algonquins and their settler allies from the land of their ancestors. They want to mine uranium.
According to Frontenac’s listing, it provides “internet electronic commerce solutions”. Pretty vague and banal. Look at their website and don’t be fooled.
http://www.frontenacventures.com/sitemap/
In 2006 Frontenac discovered additional uranium based on about 100 core samples and 4,500 kilograms of bulk samples which were sent for testing to Lakefield Research in Peterborough. They found more uranium than expected. Imagine how excited the weapons salesmen for the U.S. and Canadian military must have been! These guys have no common sense. They don’t care how many people they kill or how much of the world they destroy, as long as they make their profit.
In 2007 Frontenac announced they are hoping to raise $3 million to go in and explore for more uranium. That’s when they started to make plans to get it out. But the Algonquins and the local settlers got wind of it. That’s when some information seeped out to the public and the protests began.
You would think that a project involving a huge natural resource, and the integrity of the environment of a substantial part of southern Ontario and Quebec would require public consideration and consultation before being set in motion. You might think that in a democracy that such a project would be the object of public discussion in a legislature composed of representatives of the people. Not so in Canada! The so-called government is a corporate lackey. It acts mechanically without thinking, without feeling, without consultation, as if there was no humanity involved. It behaves with robotic loyalty to its corporate controllers.
What passes for “government” in the settler society told Frontenac there are 12 million tons of material in the East Bancroft find, from which can be extracted half a pound of uranium per ton. The entire area will have to be indelibly scarred destroying the environment for thousands of years in order to get the uranium out. This is what “open pit mining” is about and is brazenly spelled out on Frontenac’s website. It’s also known in the industry as “over-burden stripping – cut and dump”.
The dirt that was trucked during the exploration was found to yield higher concentrations of uranium than the government estimated - 14.2 pounds per ton of material, to be exact! They will be running in there with shovels and pails in hand. This means that they hit the “mother lode”, the “jackpot”! In terms of the military industrial war complex, it’s a license to print money. This could mean the Algonquins are in real danger! We know from past experience that nothing will be allowed to come between these heartless gluttons and their greed.
At this point Frontenac is waiting for winter so they can go in and get the ore out during stages 4 and 5 of phases “Q3 and Q4” of their covertly devised business plan. They have to get those Algonquins out of “their” way! What does this mean? It means they found it. They want it. And they’re gonna try to get it by any means necessary – no holds barred.
Let’s look at the value of 12 million tons of material, at half a pound of uranium per ton, according to the November 29th 2006 “spot rate” of at least US$63 per pound of uranium. This works out to $540 million for Frontenac based on conservative Geological Survey of Canada figures. Last January the price went up to US$135 per pound. If you do the math, it is worth over US$800 million.
Now let us estimate this based on the latest findings of 14.2 pounds per ton. This brings the profit into the region of US$176 billion, that is, if people want to wage that much war or make that many new Chernobyls.
Since Frontenac has invested $250,000 so far, this suggests they expect a modest return of about $US700,000 to $1 invested. [They must be just delirious!] How do you like them odds? Oh, I forgot, there might be some production costs which might reduce it a little bit. Of course, the whole plan is whacky as all get out. Humanity cannot withstand the amount of pollution and destruction needed to maintain these prices. The whole scheme comes from “flakesville”. You can bet your bottom dollar that Frontenac investors are not farsighted enough to see this. They’re hell bent on profit and they don’t give a damn how much damage they do in the process.
On their power point presentation Frontenac estimates the real target is “50 million pounds” or more. This could yield a profit of trillions. It would reshape the landscape. There would be no trees and the people would flee!
It’s a fantasy worthy of Scrooge McDuck in the comic books. But their brutality against the Algonquins is no laughing matter. These guys are salivating so much they probably have to wear terry cloth bibs over their Armani suits. They are diverting our attention from the strange bulges in their pants made by the “Depends” diapers they wear to protect their Armanis from the way they keep pissing themselves in excitement!
According to their fantasies, all they have to do is send in their Tonka Trucks and take it away for an initial investment of $250,000, so far. Pretty good return, eh! And it was handed to them on a platter by the Geological Surveys of Canada, funded by the Canadian taxpayer, to the detriment of Medicare and other social services for which there is a more immediate need. Is this what they call government “for” and “by” the people?
Frontenac’s Board of Directors are: Anthony DeWerth, Chairman; George White; Joel Lipshitz; Jack Kirkland; Jim Honsberge. Its Officers are: George White, President and CEO; David Callander, Treasurer; Scott White, Secretary and power point wizard; Jack Kirkland, counsel; Dr. Sethu Raman, F. Chris Harvey and Terrence Bottril, Technological and Geological Advisors.
There are 12 shareholders, of which ten are named above. Two are “secret” or “silent” partners. Who the hell could they be? Ontario and Canada? Or is that asking too much?
Frontenac and their colonial allies obviously think they have to dumb us down so they can take control of our assets for “our own good”? We’ve heard it all before. Similar scams are being run on the Aborigines of Australia [Northern Territories]. They won a big land claims case but uranium was found on it. Canada and Australia are the top uranium producers in the world.
So covert action had to be immediately taken. Three months after the Supreme Court of Australia decision confirming their land title, Prime Minister Howard declared martial law. He sent the army to take over the administration of 62 Aborigine communities. This was done on the pretense that outside control was needed to protect the “best interests” of the children living there. All of a sudden it was decided that the parents were “too drunk to be competent”. It appears the Aborigines have no legal standing to argue their own case. They cannot challenge the government because they are classed as "children", "wards" or "non persons". Shades of Duncan Campbell Scott!
The deliberate degradation of our communities and then taking them over is not new. Canada’s concern is that we have all the land with the ore, oil and resources they want for nothing. We are the largest landholding group per capita on Turtle Island. From this perspective, we are the wealthiest per capita even if the colonial states are bound and determined to deny us our political and economic rights.
Our standard of living continues to be kept at the bottom of their megalomaniac hierarchical model. It’s just a new incarnation of the old genocidal policy that manifested itself the moment the colonial corporations planted themselves on our land. How can we escape this cruel dynamic?
These jackals refuse to address the first question. How did Frontenac get a permit from Ontario to go onto unsurrendered Algonquin land? How can Canada and Ontario give them permission to trespass on our land and to steal our resources? How can the trespassers then get a court injunction to kick us off?

Algonquin Alliance Statement Against Uranium Exploration and Mining
July 24, 2007
On June 28, 2007 leadership and members of Ardoch Algonquin First Nation and Shabot Obaadjiwan First Nation moved to secure the site of a proposed uranium mine in the traditional lands of the Ardoch Algonquin First Nation near Ardoch Ontario. Frontenac Ventures Corporation, under the ownership of George White had been notified by mail to vacate the premises prior to the 28th with his equipment and staff. On the 28th members of the two Algonquin communities moved in and secured the site to prevent the drilling of uranium core samples which were slated to begin the following week.Upon securing the site, the two communities established an alliance whose overall purpose was to prohibit access to the site and any proposed drilling within and around the site and all associated sites by Frontenac Ventures Corporation. The Algonquin alliance discovered through an initial search that multiple users had been granted access to the site and land surrounding the site by the MNR, Mining and Northern Development and private owners. At no time did any of these ministries or private owners contact or secure permission from Algonquin people to use the lands or resources in question. In fact, while Algonquin people in the area had heard rumours of a proposed uranium mine in Frontenac County, we were not aware of the plans to develop a mine on our traditional territory until Gloria Morrison, a private land owner in the region, attended a council meeting and asked for the Ardoch Algonquin council’s help in protecting her property. Gloria came to the meeting because 60 acres of her 100 acre holding had been staked by Frontenac Ventures under the Mining Act. She had exhausted all other alternatives at that point and hoped that Algonquin people could help her as she understood that the land she had purchased was in the historical territory of Algonquin people.
Direct ActionThe alliance has taken several direct actions in the past few weeks to draw attention to the issue including two protest marches down Highway 7 in Sharbot Lake. The next direct action will take place on July 28 in Perth. Those wishing to participate in the action should meet at the lot behind Wendys at 3pm. This particular action will take place at two spots on Highway 7. There will be pylons inserted into the middle of the road to slow it down to two lanes. We will be setting up information tolls at each end of Perth on Highway 7. Cars will be allowed to travel but at a much slower pace which will permit us to provide info on the issue and also ask for donations which are needed to sustain the resistance force at the site and to pay for legal fees. We will need volunteers to stand at each end of the highway with picket signs and eight people to work the information toll. We will maintain the information toll from 3pm-6pm. We will continue to plan such actions on Highway Seven moving next to Carleton Place and eastward……eventually reaching Ottawa if necessary.
Legal Strategy
The Algonquin alliance has secured the legal services of Chris Reid, who is an expert on Aboriginal rights and law. Chris is working from the legal standpoint that Algonquin people never surrendered our lands and thus our autonomy and jurisdiction remain intact in the areas in which Frontenac Ventures Corporation has staked and plans to drill core samples. The details of that strategy need to remain confidential, but we will keep you updated on the progress made.
Response from Frontenac Ventures Corporation
Frontenac Ventures Corporation has responded to our protest in a variety of ways, including issuing a statement in the Globe and Mail wherein Frontenac’s CEO George White suggested that perhaps companies in Canada should utilize paramilitary forces such as those used in Africa (if you have seen Blood Diamond you will get the idea) to protect mining interests from people such as ourselves, which he equated with terrorism. In a meeting held last week, White’s lawyer said several nasty things about our Mohawk allies and asked point blank if there were Mohawk warriors on the premises. White also promised swift legal action against us at that meeting and has followed through with that threat as we have been told that he has filed a 77 million dollar law suit against the two Algonquin communities here and their associated leaders. While a security force showed up at several points today trying to serve the notice, no one accepted it and they will now deliver it to our legal team which is being led by Chris Reid out of Toronto.
Fundraising
Given the length of time we will need to maintain the occupation of our lands and the nature of the legal issues, we will need to implement and maintain various fundraising initiatives and activities over the next few months. Frank Morrison, who alerted us to the activities of Frontenac Ventures Corporation, is in the process of organizing a major benefit concert to take place in Carleton Place which will help in that regard, as will the one that is scheduled for Weds in Sharbot Lake. If you are not able to come and stand with us on the ground here please get involved in organizing fundraising activities to support our efforts here and what will be undoubtedly a lengthy and costly legal battle. All funds raised can be dropped off at the gate or mailed to 1045 Canoe Lane Ardoch, ON. Please specify that mailed funds go to fight uranium mining and the efforts of the Algonquin people occupying the site. If you are not able to get involved in the organization of fundraising activities, please consider dropping off or sending in your donation to support this important issue. Uranium exploration and mining will destroy our traditional territory and make it impossible to live off the land or to maintain our responsibilities to the land and waterways. We are doing this for the benefit of your children and grandchildren, so that they will have a future as Algonquin people.
CHI-MIIGWECH!
The Algonquin Alliance of Ardoch Algonquin First Nation & Shabot Obaadjiwan First Nation
